Spring is honestly one of the best times to travel, and if you are already thinking ahead to Spring 2027, you are doing it right. Packages are already being built, and the destinations below fill up faster than most people expect. Fewer crowds, lower prices, and the world looking its absolute best. Cherry blossoms, tulip fields, wildflowers over ancient ruins. Whether you want culture, sunshine, or something you have never seen before, here are the destinations worth planning for now.
Japan: Cherry Blossom Season
There is nothing quite like Japan in spring. From late March to early April, the cherry blossom season, known as Sakura, transforms the entire country into a sea of soft pink. Kyoto's Philosopher's Path and Tokyo's Ueno Park are the iconic spots, and the night illuminations are something else entirely. Temperatures are mild, the food is extraordinary, and the cultural experience is unmatched anywhere in the world. Book well in advance, accommodation fills up fast and the bloom window is short.
The Netherlands: Tulip Season
From mid-March through mid-May, the Dutch countryside turns into one of the most colourful landscapes on the planet. The Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse, just 30 minutes outside Amsterdam, feature over seven million hand-planted flower bulbs across 32 hectares of parkland, with more than a thousand varieties of tulip on display. The surrounding fields are best explored by bicycle. Add King's Day in April, when the entire country dresses in orange and takes to the streets, and you have a spring trip unlike anything else in Europe.
Greece: Sunshine Without the Summer Crowds
Spring is Greece's best kept secret. Temperatures sit comfortably between 18°C and 24°C, warm enough for the beach, cool enough to actually enjoy walking around ancient sites like the Acropolis without melting. Prices on flights and hotels drop significantly compared to July and August, and the islands feel like a completely different place without the summer rush. The Orthodox Easter celebrations are one of the most atmospheric cultural events in Europe, with candlelit processions, fireworks, and feasting that goes well into the night. Spring also brings seasonal dishes, Fava, fresh artichokes, and slow-cooked lamb, that rarely make it onto the summer tourist menus.
Portugal: Sunshine, Culture and Value
Portugal in spring is the country at its most relaxed and most rewarding. Lisbon's famous miradouros, hilltop viewpoints, are spectacular in the warm April light, and the city's tram network makes exploring effortless. The Algarve coast warms up enough for beach days from late March, with dramatic sea stacks, hidden coves, and long stretches of golden sand that are still quiet at this time of year. The Douro Valley in the north is arguably even more impressive in spring, when the vine terraces are bright green and the river is at its most peaceful. The pound goes a long way in Portugal, and with direct flights from airports across the UK starting from under £50, the value is almost unbeatable.
Bali, Indonesia: The Island at Its Most Beautiful
Spring sits perfectly between Bali's rainy season and its peak tourist rush, meaning you get the lush, green landscapes that the rain creates, without the crowds that follow. The rice terraces in Tegallalang are at their most vivid, the waterfalls at their fullest, and the surf at Canggu and Seminyak is at some of its most consistent of the year. Temple ceremonies are a daily occurrence across the island in spring, and with hotel rates running well below their summer peaks, you get significantly more for your money. Bali in spring is the version of the island most visitors never get to experience.
Paris: Blossoms, Markets and Easter Magic
Paris in spring is the city at its finest. Cherry blossoms flower through April alongside magnolia, wisteria, and peonies lining the streets and gardens. An hour's drive out of the city, Giverny, the famous garden of impressionist painter Claude Monet, is in full bloom. Easter in Paris means world-class chocolatiers, incredible patisseries, and weekend flea markets overflowing with vintage finds. Paris in spring doesn't need selling, it just needs booking.
