The park covers an area of 140 km² of which 26 km² is land. With a rich marine life consisting of hard and soft coral reefs, crystal clear waters and white beaches, Similan Islands are considered to be one of the best diving sites in the world.
The beach has fine, golden sand with the ocean being safe for swimming. Just be careful of the few rocky outcrops. It often has crystal clear water that offers some limited snorkeling from the beach.
Most travelers consider November to March the best time to visit Phuket, when days are mostly sunny and dry – ideal if you're planning to spend lots of time on the beach. The wet season runs from May to October, when the south-west monsoon brings higher levels of rainfall and humidity.
